Biology[]
Wyverns, at a first glance, resemble Dragons with a few exceptions. While Dragons are hexapods (two wings and four legs), wyverns have wings covered in feather-like scales as forelimbs and two birdlike hindlegs. They also have armored "beaks" which allow them to peck at their prey and rows of razor sharp teeth. They also have a long, bony crest which acts as a steering method. Their long, whiplike tails are used to stun their enemies or prey. Wyverns are carnivorous by nature and dangerous pack hunters. Unlike other reptiles, wyverns are warm-blooded creatures although they do need to hibernate when food is scarce. Wyverns are able to communicate with each other via flute-like cries which are imitated by Wyvern Tamers.
Habitat[]
Wyverns are most common in the kingdoms of Mistral and Vacuo.
Wyvern Tamers[]
Due to their savage and aggressive nature, wyverns are deemed unfit as pets, although the Wyvern Tamers of Mistral are able to bond with these beasts using flutes that produce a similar sound to their cries.
Triva[]
- The wyverns in SKLT are based on the Velociraptors from the Jurassic Park franchise, especially the ones belonging to Siegfried Solv (Shikra, Peregine, Osprey and Kestrel) being based on the Raptor Squad in Jurassic World.
