Therion are large, multi-headed dragon-like creatures of Grimm. A larger version with wings is known as a Mega Therion.
Appearance[]
Therion have muscular black bodies with bone-like faces, spines, and claws typical of most Grimm. They walk on four legs and have long slender tails that fade from black to red shortly after the base. All Therion have seven heads with long necks. Six of the heads have a single straight white horn protruding forward from their foreheads, while one head in the middle has four horns protruding slightly backwards from their bony face plates. All seven heads have red manes that resemble fire.
Mega Therion have more bony spines on their bodies and broad bat-like wings with red webbing.
Powers and Abilities[]
Therion are known for their burning light powers. Their red tails can glow hot, and Mega Therion's tails can send out a hail of hot sparks with a single swing. The long single horns on six of the heads can fire beams of searing light. They can also fire a larger beam in unison, with the central head acting as the initiator.
Therion's physical attacks include sweeping their tails and quickly striking with their mouths. In contrast to their quick attacks, Therion can not run as fast as other Grimm, but are no less durable.
Trivia[]
- Therion are based off the red dragon and the beast of the sea from the Book of Revelation.
- Both the dragon and the beast have seven heads with ten horns and ten crowns. Another name for crown is "corona", so the crowns are represented by flaming manes.
- In Revelation 12, the red dragon "swept a third of the stars from the sky" with its tail. This is alluded to with the Mega Therion's sparks attack.
- "Therion" is Greek for "beast". "Mega Therion" means "great beast".
- Mega Therion are sometimes nicknamed Morning Stars.
