Lycan Arcadia is a character created by Mark Zhang and an apparent member of Team SLVR. He debuted in the Fanmade SLVR "Linen" Trailer, battling a pack of Beowolves in a ruined city until he is attacked by an Armor. His weapons of choice are the set of Wrist Holstered Dagger Talons (WHDT) known as Razorbolt.
Lycan is the first - and so far only - character in the Fanmade Trailers to have a voice actor, YouTube musician Brandon Yates (known for his work with League of Legends, Death Battle, and One Minute Melee, among others), though he does not have any lines of dialogue yet, only expressing nonverbal noises like grunts, cries, and laughs. Brandon also announced that he is the series' composer, co-writer, casting director, voice director, and audio producer alongside Mark, as well as the voice of the Armors themselves.
Appearance[]
Lycan is a young man almost as tall as an average Beowolf with bleach blonde hair spiked upwards and slanted golden eyes that glow brightly when hurt or enraged due to his Semblance, though the most interesting feature is his sharpened Faunus wolf fangs seen when he grins. The first layer of clothing in his outfit seems to consist of a black bodysuit that goes from the white fur collar around his slightly-exposed pecs and neck down to his yellow-and-white converse shoes - marked by red lines around the soles with four indents at the toe like an animal's paw - and designed with lined areas of grey and black over his abdomen, sides, knees, and legs, though it leaves his muscled arms bare despite also having gloves of the same material. He also wears dark red shorts that have similar fur designs around the knees, with a grey belt around the waist holding a pouch in the back that apparently contains his Dust and a buckle with his personal emblem on it, a crescent shape with three claw-like marks going through it. The symbol is also seen in a larger size on the back of his armor, colored white with red dotted lines around the jagged edges and covering his shoulder blades, chest, forearms, and outer thighs.
Personality[]
Not much can be assumed of Lycan's personality from his short time on screen, but he was shown happily diving headfirst into combat, grinning as he engages the first round of Beowolves with a sense of bloodlust. He takes on a more serious expression when confronted with larger numbers of enemies and the Armor, and even becomes absolutely feral after getting struck by a Beowolf as he tears them apart, but he still smiles excitedly when he sees the stronger Grimm variants as if anticipating the challenge they should provide, and again when it turns out he has the upper hand in the fight with the mechanical warrior.
Abilities and Powers[]
Out of the rest of his teammates, Lycan seems to be the only one capable of taking on his opponents without relying on his personal means of defense so far. He starts off the fight by using a drop kick from the height of a building to knock out a Beowolf in a single blow and rolling off while in motion. He uses spinning midair kicks and punches to subdue them, and even performs a full backwards suplex on a Grimm jumping right at him, knocking its head on the ground and kicking it away with apparent ease. Even when equipping himself with his knives, he can still manage to hit them back with only his fists and feet, even sending a "White Beowolf" into the air with his strength alone.

Lycan's weapons of choice are Wrist Holstered Dagger Talons (WHDT) officially named Razorbolt according to the "Linen" Trailer's description.
In its inactive mode, these weapons take the form of bracers that match the color scheme consistent with the rest of Lycan's armor, wrapping around his forearms. When first used, it technically does not transform, merely supplies Lycan with one of its disposable knives, each of which follows the exact same design: A grey and black hilt with a red stripe, extending into an edged, zigzag blade that's primarily black with grey designs and outlined in his central light yellow, revolving from a grey bolt at the base to let it flip out to its full length. With these, he can throw them great distances, even spinning it behind him while barely looking at where it strikes, or it can provide him with a weapon in one or both of his hands, which he holds in a reverse "icepick grip" to slash and stab his enemies.
Once confronted with the stronger "White Beowolf", Lycan fully transformed Razorbolt into its claw mode, where four of his daggers extend from each bracer and places itself over his fingers. With these, he easily slices through the albino Grimm, his cutting power now multiplied exponentially as he makes his way through the waves of Beowolves and leaves deep gouges in their hides, even shredding them to pieces with one swipe. This form also provide more defense, since he can easily deflect their own claws and even the blades of the Armor. Against this metallic opponent, however, his attacks are less effective at damaging it, though given enough force, they were shown to pierce through its face mask and damage the mechanics underneath. It can also be equipped with a cartridge of four different Dust types, with he uses in conjunction with his Semblance.
Semblance[]
Lycan's Semblance was confirmed in the video description to be "sending clones out". These clones are hazy, see-through copies of Lycan that are projected from his body in the same pose he is when creating them, where they can then independently move or mirror his own actions and provide additional attacks, though they only last for one hit, either from themselves or delivered by enemies. It is first displayed when Lycan is pinned between a support beam and the blades of the Armor when he sends a clone foot to kick it away, and proceeds to use them at the moment of impact with his strikes, doubling the damage dealt to his opponent, then knocking it off balance and blocking against its blows. He can also utilize Dust with these clones, creating a rock copy to headbutt the android and stay as a platform for Lycan to jump off of, followed by a fire clone that kicked it downward and exploded once making contact, breaking through the ground. This power was last seen when a clone grabbed its creator by the hand and threw him downward to give an extra thrust in his final move.
Weakness[]
Lycan may have a cocky attitude that leads him to underestimate his opponents, seen first when he was busy tearing through Beowolves and was caught off guard by one of their swipes across his face, making him angrier than before. The Armor also seemed to surprise him with its power, getting knocked back by a body slam that sent him skyward and narrowly avoiding the follow-up fire blast from its "mouth" as he fell. He continued to be overpowered by its larger weaponry and greater strength against his smaller arsenal, even getting his feet cut out from under him, crashing through the roof of the building they were fighting on, and then becoming trapped under its swords as he was up against a support beam until he could turn the tables on it.
History[]
Lycan was first shown dropping down from a building in a Grimm-infested, desolated town (which looks similar to Mountain Glenn) to start fighting hand-to-hand with a group of Beowolves gathered around a downed Bullhead aircraft, which he goes in to once he knocks them all out. As he walks through the streets afterwards, he is surrounded by more Beowolves, though he begins dispatching them with his Razorbolt throwing knives, unleashing its claw forms to kill off an albino variation of the Grimm. Once done with the monsters, he gets ready to battle a larger "Omega Beowolf", but it gets swiftly killed by an Armor, which begins fighting him in turn as soon as it sees him. At first getting thrown around by his opponent, Lycan turned the tables by revealing his cloning Semblance, then taking it further by utilizing Dust in their attacks, and he delivers a finishing blow in the catacomb city underground, taking the mask of his defeated adversary.

Despite being an apparent member of the team, Lycan's relationship to his partners Simin Megistus, Vella Moisia, and the unrevealed fourth member is completely unknown, as well as any details surrounding who they in turn are affiliated with, assuming they have even officially become a team at this point. In fact, whether they will be shown together at all or not is currently up for debate.
Armors[]
Not much is inferred about a history between Lycan and the robotic warrior before they start fighting, so it is unknown if they recognize who the other is and the Armor was specifically sent to kill him or if it was there for another reason entirely and Lycan just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever the cause behind the brawl, the final scene where Lycan picks up the faceplate of the destroyed android indicates his business with the faction containing fellow Fanmade Trailer co-star Brandon Charbonneau is not over.
Trivia[]
- As confirmed by Mark, Lycan alludes to Lycaon, a king of the Greek nation Arcadia who, according to myths, killed his son and tried to feed his roasted remains to Zeus, the king of the gods, to test his divinity. As punishment, Zeus turned Lycaon and the rest of his children into wolves, becoming one of the first werewolves in ancient cultures, even lending his name to the alternative term "lycanthrope".
- His Faunus trait being wolf fangs and the enemies for a majority of the "Linen" Trailer being Beowolves help support this influence, and werewolves are commonly depicted with a weakness to silver bullets after they transform into beasts under a full moon, as well as wolves in general howling at the moon, tying him into the rest of SLVR's lunar theme.
- "Lycan", like his inspiration's name, means "wolf" in Greek, which technically fits the Color Naming Rule since wolves come in various shades like black, grey, white, brown, or gold, although in Mark's own words, "Lycans are werewolves and the color is whatever color werewolves are, in this case yellowish white". "Arcadia" is the name of the Ancient Greek region Lyacon ruled over, named after a hunter and son of Zeus known as Arcas, though it is also the name of a mystical paradise in legends with a garden inhabited by shepherds that was one with nature.
- Lycan seems to be the only member of Team SLVR that is a Faunus instead of a Human.
- He is the only character in Mark's Trailers so far to have actually taken on the creatures of Grimm, as well as fighting both them and an artificial opponent of an entirely different faction.
- Interestingly, the models of the Beowolves were directly taken from RWBY: Grimm Eclipse, which were consistent with their long-standing appearances throughout Volumes 1-3 before the change in animation software; therefore, his battle with them is more accurate than their first portrayal in the debut "Red" Trailer, as their designs had not been finalized by artist Patrick Rodriguez at that time.
- So far, Lycan is also the only one in the SLVR Trailers to have his own original theme song by his voice actor and series composer Brandon Yates.
