Name: Linnéa Capillo

Age: 19

Appearance[]

Blonde hair in a messy side braid tied into a bun with bobby pins, amaranth pink eyes, lightly tanned skin

5’3”, 107 lbs, somewhat thin build, small chest.

A deep purple and pale cotton-candy-colored double-layer tank top with slim-fit blue jeans and pink/white sneakers. Her twinflower emblem can be found in gold on a ring she has on the index finger of her left hand, a gift from her mother on her 17th birthday as a good luck charm when heading off to Beacon.

Personality[]

A bit of a firecracker, she loves to be a buddy with her teammates and friends and often stands to be a bit of a matchmaker amongst her friends (and might’ve had something to do with her Semblance). She’s generally so concerned about others that she often overlooks her own problems even when they’re dire, and aims to please. Even when she’s injured, she will take a bullet for someone else’s sake just to honor her father’s memory, and she has before. While she likes seeing the glass as half full, she’s a bit of a realist and her only real indulgences for herself are her matchmaking (and fanfiction she writes) and food binges when she’s alone.

Backstory[]

Her father was a police officer in the city of Vale while her mother was a primary/elementary school teacher. When Linnéa was 9 years old, her father was killed in a shootout with one of the most notorious robbers of those few years. The event amazingly didn’t traumatize the girl long-term, but rather inspired her to live up to her father’s memory and to protect people. Realizing that just the police force wouldn’t be sufficient for her, she decided to become a Huntress so she could have free range and liberty to protect anyone and everyone she met. She sometimes visibly bears the scars of her exploits before she went to Beacon and fought off Grimm with only basic training, but given her normal outfit choices, these are usually hidden.

During initiation, upon landing Linnéa first made eye contact with Nickelette Melati, a partner which she found suited her well, given how she would later encourage the girl into opening up a bit while she could start to get a handle on her excitement. Even in the beginning, the duo barely had any issues meshing in spite of their difference in personalities. Especially in combat, their respect for one another was mutual and remained intact over the entire extent of their time at Beacon. Over time Linnéa learned to work with the other members of her team as a cohesive unit and she ended up being a valuable support asset to the team. During the rest of initiation the duo came across the rest of the soon-to-be team DNDL, a pair of guys named Daniel Dee Lyon and David Rhosyn.

The team accomplished a great deal in their first year, and managed to make it into the 39th Vytal Festival Tournament, though they were quickly taken down in the first round by a Vacuo team in a rather explosive battle that came down to Nickelette and a single member from the other team. Though dissapointed, the team was happy to partake and vowed to improve their skills. Linnéa's main drive through the entirety of her Beacon studies was to honor her father's legacy and wishing to do as much good as he was able to, just going about it in a slightly different way than he did as a police officer. Her father's memory she tried to keep alive as much as possible, and even in his absence she came a long way with her skills and continued to remain positive regarding his untimely loss as a coping mechanism, with this fueling her desire to keep improving. It was in 2nd year when she began casually dating David, mostly because she thought he was cute and he shared the mutual attraction, and their relationship continued into their 3rd year.

While Team DNDL qualified to be part of the tournament that year, the team didn't partake in the 40th Vytal Festival as David and Linnéa both fell badly ill the week of the tournament, and as such could not compete as a full team. The duo only started to recover as the Fall of Beacon took place, with David and Linnéa being evacuated early and mostly unable to fight, though still defending the civilians they were with whenever Grimm happened to go their way. While their friends evacuated, Daniel and Nickelette helped with the efforts in the city to try and clear out the swarm of Grimm, which was mostly successful. David and Linnéa's efforts to protect those they were with were also successful, managing to help escort a group of at least 20 civilians safe despite their sickness, with the help of a Huntsman who happened to be close by. After hours of rest out of sheer exhaustion along with being searched for for hours on end, the couple had started to lose hope when their friends found them again, the nightmare finally coming to a rather bittersweet end.

As the situation was stabilized several weeks later, the team managed to come together in one of the safer, Grimm-free sections of Vale and decided they would go their separate ways until Beacon was back up and running, with Linnéa deciding to return to her hometown while the rest of the team returned to the various places where they lived. Since then she's been leading a relatively quiet life supporting her mother, with the occasional Huntress mission thrown in when the duo started to struggle monetarily. She's still considering long-term where she truly wants to go to help people out, but for right now she's more concerned about her mother's well-being and wants to make sure she's okay with her only child leaving first. She sometimes wonders about what her boyfriend is doing in this time, and tries to make the effort to visit him every so often so that the distance between them doesn't start to tear them apart.

Weapons and Abilities[]

Weapon[]

A riding-crop and whip combination, where a trigger releases the elastic material inside the weapon to form the whip along with the Dust energy from either of two cartridges, which can be used separately or together depending on whether the trigger for each is engaged.

Aura[]

Her Aura is light pink (almost white) in color and at about an average amount for someone her age. She has yet to learn most of the functions of it, but is steadily improving with it due to her constant work with her Semblance, and by extension, her Aura.

Semblance[]

Nicknamed “Orbital Coalescence,” Linnéa’s Semblance allows her to places a pair of runes on two different things, and the two things will orbit around one another until they eventually reach a center point and impact one another, cancelling the effect. If one object is heavier/larger than the other, the lighter/smaller of the two will be affected moreso. The effect is stronger the closer the targets are, and only properly effective force-wise within a radius of 90 feet or less. Gravity or Wind Dust can strengthen the effects and the reach. The easiest way to do it is to touch the two things in question, but it can be done remotely with extra effort, exertion, and a risk of failure.

Trivia[]

  • The word Linnéa comes from a genus of the twinflower of the same name, which has a pale pinkish-white flower. Capillo is an Italian term referring to a thin person, with the word literally translating to “a hair.”
  • Her Semblance is loosely based on a meteorological phenomenon known as Fujiwhara effect, which occurs when two nearby cyclonic vortices orbit each other and close the distance between the circulations of their corresponding low-pressure areas, usually seen in hurricanes. It's also a slight joke related to her name referencing the “twinflower”, since the runes she places are an identical pair with the same twin-flower emblem on both.
