WARNING: POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR RADN: UNITED WE STAND AHEAD.

Itallingrad is the name of a small landlocked kingdom within southern Vale, bordering Vacuo, surrounded by mountain ranges and a thick forest. After the Great War, they have remained in isolation and unknown to the rest of Remnant, and possess one of the largest dust collections in the world.

It was one of the settings in "RADN: United We Stand", and was the former home of Darian, Bigby, and Sapphire Rouge.

Layout[]

Despite appearing to be little more than an obscure, poor third-world kingdom with little to offer to the rest of the world, it is in fact one of the most advanced kingdoms in Remnant, rivaling Atlas. Most of its appearance is disguised by cloaking systems.

Forest Suburbs[]

After the Great War, the natives of Itallingrad have settled into vast forests, building their homes in cliffsides, trees, etc. Valleys and mountains stretch and extend throughout Itallingrad, and the forests are known to possess both tropical and taiga-like biomes.

No Man's Land[]

"No Man's Land" is what used to be the industrial area of Itallingrad, surrounded by the woodlands. No Man's Land gains its name from the harsh, post-apocalyptic climate of the cities, now populated by the poor, thieves, murderers, etc. It is essentially a ruin of a great city, as if having been bombed before, and the streets are full of old and used machinery. The other part of No Man's Land is desert-like, with sand and hard ground.

Kingdom History[]

Legend has it, Itallingrad was founded by Akasha Italeen, the rumored daughter of a god. She became the first empress of the new kingdom and its heroine. After her, a line of honored people became the rulers in a non-hereditary fashion. The Itallingradians had a love for art, sculpture, and monuments, which they woven into their lifestyles. Most towns and cities had a forum, temples, colosseums, and homes built into rock. It wasn't long until they discovered dust, which came in massive quantities from the area.

In response to the Great War, which threatened to reach Itallingrad, the kingdom underwent a grand revolution and burst into a great industrialization, advancing its technology and ports as well as encouraging economic development. It initiated the building of railroads to connect metal, dust, and coal mines with factories and to transport goods. They expanded territory, and introduced new dust weaponry never before seen. However, after the Great War, Itallingrad was forced to collapse from yet another revolution, this time against its now-corrupt leaders, and the kingdom underwent a massive divide.

Most of Itallingrad's population has now moved to the woodlands, where they adopted a tribal-like society while the industrialized center of Itallingrad became No Man's Land, mostly taken over by outlaws, killers, and such, led by the man known as Shade Pierce.

Society Information[]

The native-born people of Itallingrad often appear as tan or dark-skinned. Other than that, there is no specific physical trait Itallingradians possess that can be considered different from outsiders, so to distinguish and identify themselves, each native has a tattoo of a specific animal made of dust, which was branded on them from a young age. The dust's reactive qualities with other substances are disabled for safety of the recipient, especially since dust infusion is known to be extremely painful. This tattoo could only be identified using Itallingradian technology, otherwise it just looks like a regular tattoo.

Languages[]

The Itallingradians are able to speak the main language of Remnant, which is the equivalent of English, but they also have their own language. Itallik, which closely resembles the real-world Italian language, is a variation of Latin developed over time in Itallingrad. Not all Itallingradians bothered to learn Itallik, of course, but as tradition it is often an Itallingradian's first language taught. In addition to reinforcing their cultural identity, learning this unique language also had the advantage of allowing them to secretly communicate even in other kingdoms, as they strongly enforce remaining hidden and their societies unfound by outsider population.
