"Are you all right?"

Rose Smith was a gifted mechanic, working in a machine shop while training part-time at a combat school. Building her weapon 8-chain, she passed the entrance exam for Shade Academy and is currently a fourth-year student.

An old friend of Oberon, she joined Team IRON as their resident acrobat, frequently trading verbal jabs with their leader, Ian. She never competed at the cadet level, choosing to focus on her machine shop and turning it into a successful business. During that time, work with a blacksmith and combat school teachers turn her into a master weaponsmith and machine maker. She is the fast-fighter and mechanic of her team.

Appearance[]

Rose is of average height and looks thin, but has defined, denser muscles from working in a machine shop. She has an angular face and rounded green eyes. She has straight brown brown hair with a Fuchsia over-dye, and tied back, with medium brown skin. Her hands are wide, rough and calloused and scarred, and she has multiple burn marks from blacksmithing. She also usually has motor oil or soot on her hands, and smears all over her clothes.

Normal Outfit:[]

She wears jeans, black boots, and a studded black leather jacket over a tank-top. She wears a pair of fingerless black leather gloves, as well as two black vambraces. A spiked belt holds two parts of her 8-Chain, and has a snapable hood that can attach to her jacket. Hanging from the belt is also a pair of work gloves, and a series of tool pouches. On her forehead are a pair of work goggles and she also wears a thin scarf on the lower side of her face that she pulls up when working with certain materials. The jacket is fire-resistant and very tough, able to withsand Grimm claws.

Specialized:[]

When out on a mission, she pulls the hood up and often dons the bandanna and goggles to protect from sand and particles. In the desert, while leather absorbs heat, the protection makes up for it in her mind. In cold weather, she pulls on thicker, fleece-lined pants and a larger jacket with fleece-lined sleeves. While working, she uses a normal work apron.

Leisure:[]

When relaxing, she has athletic shorts, yoga pants and flip-flops. Like most in Vacuo, she mostly has all-purpose clothes for sleeping, eating hanging out etc.

Personality[]

Rose is similar to Ian in many ways; quippy, sarcastic, and witty. But unlike Ian, Rose is more reserved in her jabs, taking them when the time is right. Rose, while not a genius, is reasonably intelligent and possesses a great knowledge of machines. She also has an all-around sense of humor, laughing at anything. She is a very quick thinker, and reacts well, able to contain a situation quickly and work from there.

Rose is also very business-savy, with an almost uncanny ability to predict how a business will work or fail. She has an encyclopedic knowledge of economics, surpassing Ian's. She is extremely skilled with machines, modifying the remains of her jeep into the "Iron Tank." She fidgets often, but not the way Ian does. Rather, she practially builds new mechanisms and machines, being focused rather than absent-minded. She is a master weaponsmith, aiding the team in maintenance.

Rose is also extremely outwardly caring, her jabs meant to make others laugh, not laugh at others. She almost never mocks, and serves as the "team mom." She cares not at all about appearances and laughs at materialism. She is also surprisingly compassionate, kind, and patient, allowing other classmates to vent their emotional problems on him at times and genuinely wanting others to open up, and is always the up-lifter. She is always chewing some kind of gum, her favorite flavor being mint.

Inside, however, she is deeply insecure about herself. Her comparatively low combat skill makes her a larger target in battle, forcing her to rely more and more on her teammates. Her greatest fear is failing others close to her, making her less likely to take risks. She is a poor leader, and is outspoken, not assertive. She is partial to mint-flavored foods or desserts.

Capabilities[]

Rose is a fast, acrobatic fighter who uses her chains to move about. She is proficient at trips, traps, and toppling large enemies in an unorthodox style.

Physicality[]

Rose is short, and small, below average on strength and speed by huntsman standards but is extremely agile. She has good endurance, not tiring in a fight, and lacks raw power but is extremely coordinated and balanced. Rose has fast reaction times and a masterful understanding of mechanics and distance, and is extremely flexible, the most flexible among her team. She has a thin frame, however, and isn't the most durable without aura.

Weapon[]

Rose wields 8-chain, a collective name used to describe a dual pair of handheld weapons and two boot attachments. When not in use, the handheld components are held in holsters, and the chains stay on the vambraces

  • The blades are a black-oxide coated metal
  • The shafts are made of an extenable pipe; Fuchsia colored
  • The handles are made of a light blue material
  • The barrels of the gun form are the kama shafts
  • The Boot segments each contain three launching grapples, containing gravity dust that lets her float up, and winches letting her pull herself around.
  • Each boot chain has a range of thirty feet

It can transform into

  • The dual kama close range form

Bottom drawn to a .5 inch scale, top 1 inch

    • The blades extend upward along with the barrels
    • The chains wrap around the vambraces
    • Used as normal weapons
    • The blades are 6.5 inches long
    • Extended, the handles are 12.75 inches long, or 1 foot .75 inches
  • The mid-range chain-hook
    • The kama chains extend
    • Can shoot out and hook legs
    • Can shoot out, retract and be used to hook and pull up
    • The maximum range of 20 feet
    • At the end, handle of 7.5 inches
  • The dual pistols
    • Unfolding from the box, the long, extendable chains wrap around the vambraces
    • The kama blades fold into the guns
    • Front handguards right next to snub-nosed pistol
    • Fires standard dust rounds; each magazine hold 12 rounds
    • The guns are 4.75 inches tall, ignoring the blade
    • 3.5 inch long barrels

Semblance[]

Rose's semblance is called Bowling Ball; it allows her control magnitudes and directions of the forces acting on her. This allows her to control her falls, spins, and dodges. She uses it to move quickly, survive falls, and perform complex acrobatic and balance feats. She cannot control the total force acting on her however, IE if she is moving 10 newtons in one direction she cannot reduce or increase, only change it's direction, or change it into 5N in opposite directions rendering the net force in that plane zero. She does not need a net force acting on her: If she is standing still, she can combine the force of gravity and the normal force to launch herself up.

Fighting Style[]

Rose utilizes her speed and acrobatics in combat; leaping around the battlefield and firing rounds. She uses her Kusari-gamas to hook, trap, and catch opponents. Since she has no unarmed combat experience, she utilizes simple kicks at close range. Her extendable Kusari-Gamas allow her to swing around. She is the most acrobatic member of the team, able to perform a quadruple backflip off her feet. She often shoots at point-blank range and long range. She keeps the chains wrapped around her arms and holds the Kama part in her hands, though often lets them hand downward, holding the chain itself. She enjoys using the kamas held, hooking and trapping enemy weapons, using pull strikes and short cuts, as well as the occasional chop in a volume-based fighting style.

She leaps around, swinging and staying away. She fires as she falls in, towards the enemy then hooks onward and either shoots at point-blank range or slashes. A fleeing opponent is easily tripped by her swinging the kama to hook and pull their leg out. With lightning speed, she creates a mid-range blade storm with the chains, or uses the chains to wrap up limbs or pull large Grimm down. She is a very independant fighter, but doesn't impair team effectiveness.

Rose also dodges blows quickly, minimizing her aura usage. Occasionally, she pairs up with Nobu in order to utilize his sniper rifle and precise strikes. She relies on speed and agility rather than durabiltiy. She is extremely fast, moving out of the way quickly. Her style is based on range and speed, and is extremely unorthodox.

Weaknesses[]

Rose's style gives her trouble with a sophisticated opponent. She is fast, versatile and proficient with her weapons, but an opponent as fast as her gives trouble, forcing her to fight at close range rather than trip and hook from a distance. She performs best in wide-open areas with places for her chains to grapple, leading to a more stilted fighting style in enclosed places. She is also physically the weakest of the group, and posesses the least raw power. An enemy with a chain-like weapon can cause occasional troubles, if say, the chain is longer than hers.

She has poor unarmed combat training, with only the most basic striking and grappling. She tends to favor limited front kicks and jabs, but her small height and reach means she is often caught on the outside by a larger enemy. Without her weapons, she is only average. He lack of durability also means a hard-hitting opponent can take her out with a couple shots. Her insecurities make her vulnerable to psychological warfare and give her an inability to trust others.

Relationships[]

Ian Griseo[]

Rose considers Ian her smart twin, and confides many things with him. In addition to trading quips, she also teaches him about machines and helps him in his building projects. He was also instrumental in fixing her insecurities, as he, and the rest of Team IRON were some of the first people not to constantly judge her. Mutually, they benefited, as he learned more about machines and she learned more about materials. Rose thinks Ian is the crazy middle brother of the team, as he tends to run off with his butterfly mind but can hold the team together well.

Oberon Schneidier[]

Oberon and Rose are close friends, with Oberon even working as a security guard once for her machine shop on a particularly busy day. He is very protective, and in turn, she tends to go after those who emotionally hurt him. Oberon is the kind one, and both he and Ian serve as an absorbing platform for her "emotional problems." Rose's building skills complemented Oberon's combat ability as did her wit and his physicality. Rose and Oberon did argue as Oberon was attempting to befriend Nobu, someone Rose disliked immensely. However, Oberon was the catalyst for Rose and Nobu becoming trusted partners.

Nobu Nauctillis-Burakuu[]

Initially distrustful of him, due to his shadowy nature, and tendency to do things without a heads-up, she grew to trust him after he gave her pointers on using her scythe-like weapons he had learned from Qrow Branwen at Signal. The two eventually became close, and de facto partners in combat. Additioanlly, her close friends Ian and Oberon became close with Nobu, leading her to open up more and eventually becoming close partners. When he died, she was devestated and only heard the story that Ian was responsible.

John Smith[]

Rose despises her father and loved her mother more. Her father's constant demand for perfection as well as his drinking lead her to focus on her work and become a huntress. He always suppressed her passions and desires, and she eventually stagnated him with a minisucle salary out of duty. His eventual death at the hands of alcohol didn't affect her much, only a sense of shame and sadness. He was always a sore spot for her, but eventually she forgave him pothstumously

Bakrra[]

Bakrra was Rose's mentor, and her teacher and emotional support. She learned a large amount of blacksmithing skills from him, complementing her machine shop ability. He was the father she never got to have.

History[]

Early life[]

Born the only child of a single father, her mother having been killed in a Grimm attack, she began life working in her father's machine shop. She quickly became a regular, picking up many skills from the rest of the workers and her father. Her father, however, never acknowledged her successes, only ever pointing out what she did wrong. She began training in gymnastics on the side, developing quite a talent, though her father hut it down quickly. However, she discovered heer semblance far quicker than most this way, aiding her weight distribustion.

She eventually befriended a blacksmith named Bakrra when she was ten. He took her in as an apprentice, as she enjoyed the work at the forge. Bakrra was encouraging and uplifting, in stark contrast to her father. When her father found out, he was furious, as he considered Bakrra a rival. For legal reasons, Bakrra could not teach her any longer.

Middle Years[]

Her father eventually drank himself into a puddle, with her taking over the Machine shop. Using the earnings, she managed to get the business high-quality contracts, and the company grew. She trained part-time at combat schools, hoping to learn basic self-defense, incase of a Grimm attack. One day, she meet Oberon through Bakrra. She helped him with the mace and expanding shield portions, and he happily thanked her, even working as a security guard for her shop one day.

Eventually, a contract with a large partner when she was sixteen allowed her to become a "hands off" overseer, allowing her to train full-time, both in Hunstmanship and Acrobatics. Realizing machines had lost their joy for her, she decided to become a full Huntress. realizing how much Vacuo was in need of Huntresses and Huntsmen. Finally designing her weapons, she passed Shade's entrance exam after three attempts.

Shade Academy Initiation[]

Rose arrived at Shade in a heavy-duty jeep she built, carrying all sorts of tools, parts and luggage. Her "bedroll" was one of the seat cushions of the jeep. Before curfew, she ran into Oberon, and both of them hoped to be on the same team. As the initiation started, Rose boarded an Air Bus and memorized her coordinates quickly.

She was dropped, and used her semblance to force her body in a roll, and used 8-Chain to hook several cacti and the air bus itself and pull herself to the ground, using her boot's function to jump off, slowly absorbing the impact. The noise attracted an Ursa, which she then fought, killing. As she ran off to the coordinates, a shot rang by her ear and a Beowulf dropped dead.

Turning, she saw Nobu, holding a sniper rifle. Yelling at him for almost hitting her, he sneered and glared back. Realizing they were now partners, they stumbled upon the relic area, arguing all the time, with Nobu pointing out that he had saved her life. The two ran off into a giant, constantly shifting chasm, with Ian stopping the two from jumping in, explaining the situation. They decided that Rose should swing in, and retrieve the golden palm trinket. However, a ravager shot up and grabbed her by the leg, and she screamed, almost loosing her grip. The other three leaped in and defeated them, Rose jumping down and slashing the Ravagers to shreds. She used her weapons to hook the golden palm trinket and pull it toward herself.

A Nevercrow, attacked right after, forcing them to work together. Ian himself fired at the monster from a distance, then moved in, finishing the beast by swinging up with Rose's chains and impaling the crow through the forehead with an electric spear. They managed to find an Air Bus, and were called Team IRON, lead by Ian.

When a Nevercrow attacked on their way back, Rose swung around, firing shots at the monster. Eventually, she allowed Ian to use her chains to swing up and finish the monster off.

Back at the air buses, the four were united into Team IRON.

Shade Academy Year One[]

Day One[]

Afterward, the group was given their dorm, a space that was 10 by 10 by 10 feet. Ian decided that as a team, they had to make the place efficient. Rose helped him plan out the room, and recomended certain parts from her truck.

Rose tied and screwed together extra seats from her truck, creating four 7 by three foot platforms that would act as beds. She attached the bedrolls to them with more cord, putting Ian's and Nobu's on top and Rose and Oberon's bedrolls below, on the floor.

Once that was done, she moved a large, empty chest off to the wall next to the door, and then remarked that it was a good team exercise. Rose then fell asleep, only expressing annoyance at Nobu hanging his robes. In the morning, Ian woke her up with a shot and a rather inane barrage about the schedule. Rose tuned him out until Oberon calmly explained the schedule, the first class being in the Sandpit Arena with Rowena Sunnybrook.

Rose leaped to her feet, and pulled on her jacket, strapping on her weapons. Rose filed out behind Ian, noting his loose posture and relaxed position. During review, Rose found Professor Sunnybrook's critque of Ian rather comical, before being grilled herself and managing to perform a medicore, but sufficient, strike.

After watching Oberon batter another student into the ground, Ian pick apart another, Nobu blitz and defeat another, Rose stepped in. She found some success against her opponent, a lightning-fast spear user who got past her chain barrage and gunshots, depleting her aura in under five minutes. Once Rose lost her weapons, she was completely helpess, and extremely disappointed.

Breakfast was bland, much to her chagrin, but she was attentative and organized during history class. During an optional weapons mantience and workshop session, where instructors simply left materials and tools in the hands of students, Rose conducted mantinence with Ian and impressed him with her knowledge, efficiently cleaning rifles and weapons. , Ian impressed by Rose's knowledge and learning much from her after she demonstrated more efficient methods for cleaning rifles.

The final class of the day was application class, the most down to earth class, where students fought each other in teams in order to learn teamwork. Team IRON was pitted up against a team of simple powerhouses, surviving only due to their strong individual attributes, something that disappointed Ian. Rose herself struggled against her opponent, and was saved by Oberon. That ended their first day of school, the team going to bed.

The Ingot[]

As the year progressed, the team slowly improved on their teamwork, though Nobu continued to be a loner. Rose confronted him about this, telling him to work with the team, but he merely sneered and waved off Ian and Oberon. About a quarter of the way through the school year, Rose confided in Oberon about her feelings of inadequacy in physcial combat, due to failing pretty much every time with seemingly little improvement. While they made their way up to the dorms after class, Ian noticed that Nobu was missing, originally wanting to search for him in conjunction with the school, but Oberon volunteered, something Rose passionately opposed but Oberon decided to do anyway. The entire school went on alert for months, with Nobu dropping off the face of Vacuo.

One day, during the workshop session, Ian complemented her skill as he had done multiple times before, stating that she was the most skilled mechanic he had ever seen. When she laughed the complement off, Ian switched gears and told her that her combat ability was more than made up for by her mechanic ability, and that she shouldn't worry about her lack of talent in that field. Rose was taken aback, almost confused, and Ian assured her that it was his job as team leader to handle these situations. Rose rolled her eyes, and was about to cry, slightly angered that Oberon had told Ian, but Ian told Rose that they should go out for a drive, and talk.

Rose drove her jeep out into the desert. During the drive, while talking, Ian trying to convince her that she had value among the team, they were beset by several Ursai, attracted by Rose's negative emotion. While they quickly defeated the Grimm, the jeep was rendered barely functioning and it was in shambles when they returned to Shade, Rose visibly upset. When they got back to the dorm, Ian remarked about how he missed Oberon, and Rose rolled her eyes, stating that she found Nobu a waste of time, telling Ian about how Nobu had shoved her off while he left. When Ian asked what she noticed, she reached back, and said she may have noticed a medium cloak, with a certain plastic-like finish. Ian deduced that Nobu had gone to Mistral, and contacted Oberon, Rose annoyed that Oberon had left.

The next day, Rose struggled to rebuild her jeep, wanting to preserve her vehicle, when Ian had an idea. They could rebuild the jeep, but into a huntsman vehicle with combat application. Collecting together random parts, Ian sorted materials and Rose drew up schematics for a humvee like vehicle Ian dubbed the "Ingot" They got to work over the coming months, rebuilding the chassis, testing out different features, and running simulations on it's combat efficiency. Ian stole and hustled various materials and they finalized the design after months, happily taking it out on a first test drive. Months later, Oberon returned with Nobu, the two seemingly reconciled. Rose was irked with Oberon for leaking her secret, but was happy he had done so.

A Certain Mission and Romantic Endeavor[]

Rose aided Oberon with catching up with his classwork, along with Ian, aided him in catching up. During training, she was confused by working with Nobu, noticing that he had softened up but wasn't sure how to approach him. Oberon approached her about crushing on a certain girl, but before she could give him any advice, the team was assigned a rescue mission; a couple in the desert, the lack of teachers meaning the highest-ranked first year team was sent, Team IRON's first official mission. However, this meant that they were unable to compete at the Vytal Festival.

During the mission, Rose drove the Ingot and using flight mode to cross a canyon. Rose was awoken by Nobu to take watch, uncomfortable of the idea that Nobu had a weapon while they were asleep, untrusting despite working together on a daily basis. When they awoke, they finally found the couple, a husband and a pregnant wife hiding under a tent, Rose learning that their names were Robert and Murda Woo. The wife was badly wounded, and the husband carried a loaded rifle, Rose concerned about the child. They put them in the Ingot, Rose driving fast as she could until Murda went into labor. Rose began remebering how horrifying the death of her own mother was, so, not wanting to disturb the birth, they planted and had Oberon charge a force filed with his shield. Rose opened the car and lowered the chairs, then went outside, ready to fight Grimm.

They were attacked by Grimm, an army of Ursai, Ravagers, and Beowulves, attracted by the wife's cries, and Rose fired back with the Ingot's fronton machine guns. The Grimm broke through the shield after three hours, prompting the team to plant down and fight, knowing that movement would disrupt the birth of the baby. Rose recalled the Grimm killing her mother, promsing to never let that happen to the baby. She worked in tandem with Nobu and Oberon mainly, protecting the Ingot from aerial attacks. After the baby was born, The team boarded the Ingot and fled, Rose gunning the engine and closing the roof. They arrived at Shade, recieiving high marks for their performance and monetary gain, as well as a full dust recompensation for the Ingot.

Rose came to Ian with news; Oberon was crushing on some random girl at the Academy, Martha Heba. Rolling her eyes at Ian and Nobu's antics, Rose's heart melted slightly at Oberon asking her out. Talking later to Nobu, learning about his past, the two bumped fists and decided to give becoming friends a try. As the year came to a close, day after day of training and being combat partners forged a bond of friendship between the two of them.

Shade Academy Year Two[]

The First Mission of their Second Year[]

Team IRON was assigned to an independent mission at the end of the first quarter of their second year. The mission was to protect a caravan of tribespeople as they traveled through the desert, however, this meant that they would be unable to compete at the Vytal Festival, and while Rose didn't want their work to go to waste, she knew that the mission was more important. They set out in The Ingot, towing multiple trailers full of supplies for the caravan.

Arriving at the assigned coordinates, Ian assigned Rose to keep the Ingot in flight mode, armed, with Nobu in a sniper position within the vehicle. Rose floated around the caravan, guns loaded, ready to step in and defeat any threats. While it was mundane, Rose found the night life entertaining, laughing at Oberon's wreslting antics. She saw a happy family, mother, father and daughter, the father teaching his daughter how to carve, gently and kindly, and Rose felt slightly envious.

That night, however, they were attacked by Ravagers, as an old woman had died of old age and it caused negative emotion. Rose flew around on her chains, working independantly of Ian to take out multiple ravagers, dashing within the swarm with 8-chain and causing chaos. An immense cloud of Ravagers began heading their way, and Ian ordered Rose and Nobu to escort the caravan while he lured the swarm away. Concerened about Oberon, but focus, Rose obliged and began organizing the caravan to flee. The family from earlier had their mother snatched, but Rose saved her and picked off any remaining ravagers as the group fled, telling the tribespeople to sing a happy song to get the Grimm to go after Ian.

The rest of the mission was rather mundane, Rose spending the entire time concerned for Oberon and Ian, until they reached the destination, a town on the edge of Vacuo. Rose and Nobu drove back to shade, realizing that Ian and Oberon hadn't returned, and demanded to go out and rescue them. Rose gave earfuls to staff until Ian and Oberon staggered in, Rose rushing them to the emergency care.

The Vytal Festival[]

Still recovering from that mission, Team IRON took a trip to Vale to watch the Vytal Festival, Rose simply happy to see everyone else compete. Rose enjoyed most of the matches, finding enjoyment in the brawl that was RWBY vs ABRN, the teamwork by JNPR and the hilarious battle of SSSN vs NDGO. She was annoyed by Ian's comments, but simply pointed out the similarities between Tribus Stimul and Croeca Mors, to which he rolled his eyes and mocked the wielder of Croeca Mors' fighting style. Rose rolled her eyes, however, at the fan posters of SSSN.

While they began to leave, Ian for a mysterious reason led them on a detour, where they ate, Rose finding the beef stew and oxtail braise enjoyable, if somewhat heavy. She asked Ian to explain his nicknames for Team RWBY, which he did, rather inanely, Rose only nodding silently. Afterward they found a training room and trained, Rose tolerating Ian's bitter rambles. Rose enjoyed the dual matches as well, finding them entertaining. They went back to eating and training afterward, Rose optimistic about competing the next year.

Rose was disgusted by Yang's cheap shot at Mercury, shouting that Mercury was already defeated, and booed as Yang was lead off the arena. She was horrified by the decimation of Penny, wondering how such an experienced fighter could go too far, and her mind raced at the revelation that Penny was a robot, wondering how she was created. When all hell broke loose, Rose drew her weapons, ready to fight.

The Fall of Beacon[]

Once all hell broke loose, Team IRON immediately thought of the civilians, fighting in the city of Vale to aid in it's evacuation. Ian and Rose hacked into the city's survillance system, sending out information on stranded civillians as Grimm and White Fang soldiers ran rampant. The team moblized, and found three main locations with ten or more people, getting them to "saftey" in a more fortified area in the city, a warehouse full of weapons, concealed. Rose calculated the areas with groups of people and Ian pinpointed them, ordering the team to find the three larger groups then split up for the various other groups.

The team first rescued a group of fifteen, five men, five women and five children. They were huddled, attracting seven Ursai who Rose shot down. Before they could rescue them, however, a squad of White Fang members intercepted the team, who, using powerful team attacks, made short work of the terrorists. They lead them back to the warehouse, but Rose noticed that the people would need a sentinel to protect them. Ian assigned Oberon, and Rose remarked how she wished that they had brought the Ingot.

Team IRN ran off to the second group, six children and three men, three women, desperatly trying to stall a group of sixteen White Fang terrorists. After Nobu picked several off, Rose swung in, tripping up the entire group, finished by Ian's earth dust trapping them. As they traveled back, Rose scouted ahead, moving slowly due to the children and one of the men being crippled, having to fend off attacks. Oberon looked battered as they arrived, much to Rose's concern, but they quickly had to run back to the final group.

When they got there, they found only two left, despite Ian's readings claiming that there were fifteen. Only two children survived, making Rose distraught. After an enraged Ian slaughtered a pack of Beowulves, Rose decided to keep it together, and grabbed both children, telling them to hold on as she swung back. As she did, she almost ran into a griffon, but avoided it and as she got back to Oberon's base, Oberon smashed it with a giant mace strike. He looked exhausted, but Rose told him about Ian's angered attack. Oberon nodded in sympathy, and the two began fighting for their lives to fend off Grimm. Once Ian and Nobu arrived with five orphans, their caretaker, and an unrelated man, Rose rejoined them to find the last two groups.

One of the groups was a bunch of faunus from Vacuo, five of them, being harassed by ten White Fang members who got rough. Ian ordered Rose to string up the middle four White Fang members with her chains, Nobu to pick off the three on the edge, while he decimated the last three in melee combat. Rose did so, using 8-chain to hang them by their ankles from above. The final group was a single young boy, who Ian gave to Rose to carry after finding him under a pile of rubble. Rose swung ahead, thankfully not finding any Grimm and found Oberon's hideout beset by no Grimm. Her thankfullness was cut short by Ian and Nobu's warning of a massive swarm of Grimm.

They had to guard the warehouse until Atlas Crusiers came, and Ian tried to call them, who said they wouldn't arrive for hours. Angry, Ian began ordering the team to get ready for a massive attack. He positioned Rose as a skirmisher, to swarm the Grimm flock and cause chaos within them.

A swarm of Griffons charged in, Rose using 8-chain and the Griffons as anchors, each use to swing around killing one. The flock began to collapse, but not quickly enough, until Rose was clipped by one, falling to the ground. She used her semblance to slow her fall, but Oberon caught her, now on the ground. Rose was out of bullets, and got ready for a melee battle with a group of Grimm, between them and the civillians. A swarm of Griffons came from overhead, with various Ursai and Beowulves on the ground. Team IRON was ready.

Rose fought desperately, swinging her kusari-gamas in wide circles, slicing through the Grimm and shredding whole columns. The team fought like a machine, chaining team attacks perfectly. Rose noticed a Griffion nearing the refuges, so she slashed it out of the sky. Her aura was gone, clothes shredded, knees heavy, and body battered, hoping for this to end, until Ian warned them about one last attack; a cabal of the White Fang, carrying something heavy. They dashed back into the warehouse, and saw the group setting up an immense machine gun. Rose was panicking, until Nobu and Ian told them the plan.

Rose winced at the impacts on Oberon's shield, but everyone ducked down, Rose covering the civillians as best she could and ducking them behind crates. As the terrorists inspected the building, Rose saw them normally, but she realized they saw only shadows, and was concered for Nobu, who looked strained to the maximum. They eventually left, but Nobu passed out. The wyvern flew overhead, and Rose felt shock and fear. Eventually, the cruiser swooped around, and Team IRON hitch hiked on one back to Vacuo.

Why[]

Rose has "paid the cost to be the boss" and worked for everything she has. She's a "bad mother" because of her strength and reslience, not because of her intimidation. Eventually, she becomes a sucessful buisness man and has "money to burn" because she's made it. She's the boss of a buisness and she's a bad mother in life.
