"The White Fang think their actions are helping Faunus, but all they are doing is acting like the animals humans think we are." -Coba

Appearance[]

Coba is 5'9" and weighs about 150lb. He is a rather muscular man, built for agility rather than strength or stamina. Despite being 1/4th Faunus, he has no obvious animalistic features like other Faunus, but does share some of the personality traits associated with wolf Faunus. Coba's has short and shaggy brown hair, and his eyes are a light grey color.

His typical attire is a cobalt blue vest lined with grey fur worn over a leather cuirass, blue jeans and combat boots. Coba also wears pieces of leather armor on his shoulders and legs. His weapons, Wax and Wane, act as armor from his elbows to his knuckles.

Personality[]

Coba is a rather cold individual as of late. During his early years he had maintained a hopeful and happy attitude. Unfortunately, recent events have left him a depressed shadow of his former self. Even now he is a natural born leader, he can easily work with others and coordinate attacks based on limited observations of those under his command. Coba has no qualms about fighting and risking his life, but he is rather conservative with the lives of those put under his command. This is because he doesn't want to take a risk that might not provide a reward.

Lately he has tried to avoid working with others, for the same reason he is depressed. This does not mean he won't work with others, not by any means, he just doesn't trust himself as a leader anymore. Coba is a humble person, but those who have only recently become acquainted with him believe him to be a proud individual. With his record, and current disposition towards teamwork, some huntsmen and huntresses have gotten the idea that Coba believes himself too good to work with them.

Because of the way he was raised, Coba has a strong sense of justice, that has found itself as jaded as the rest of him. He still believes strongly in equality, vowing to end the White Fang in the current incarnation. His ideas of justice have become twisted and he has become a bit merciless. It is his current belief that criminals should be imprisoned, exiled or even killed to assure that they will not commit their crimes again. Luckily he has not been able to exercise this belief, but his attitude has become a growing concern amongst his fellow huntsmen and huntresses. The only part of Coba that has yet to be affected by his depressing state of mind is his desire to protect the innocent. He has proven more than once that he is willing to throw himself between the creatures of Grimm and innocent people. Coba has also asked any huntsmen and huntresses in training if they are sure that they really want to be apart of such a dangerous life. He wants the trainees to realize that hunting Grimm is no romanticized fairy tail.

Backstory[]

Cobas childhood in Vale was a hard one. He was bullied often due to his heritage, being 1/4th Faunus. However, it was rare for him to get bullied to harshly himself; most of the time the kids attacked his grandfather for marrying a Faunus girl. Even more still, the other Faunus children treated him indifferently as well. Coba found himself accepted by neither sub-culture. Yet despite all of this, Coba did not grow to hate the other children, instead he made it his goal to become a bridge between Faunus and Humans.

Trained from a young age in hand to hand combat by his father, Coba eagerly entered Signal when he was of age, and crafted his weapons, Wax and Wane. He made a few friends there, but most people still looked at him with mistrust. Still he pressed on, showing signs of natural leadership and strategic thinking.

When Coba entered Beacon Academy, he was placed in a team of four like so many before and after him. He created close bonds with his teammates and with the members of a few other teams as well. He proved himself a natural leader again and again, coordinating his team to accomplish numerous tasks. During his early years in school he attended a few of the White Fang rallies, spurred on by their ideals of peaceful equality. Coba graduated from Beacon and went on to become a proper huntsman, aiding people in need, hunting the Grimm and searching for leads on how to stop the now militant White Fang. Over the few years that he has been a Huntsman, he has seen many of his friends killed in action, some under his leadership. Each death hurt more than the one before, and Coba blames himself for not being there to help them despite knowing that there was little he could have done to change what had happened. He continues to work as a huntsman, but has tried to refuse offers that would have him working with, and more importantly leading, others. The only thing that still seems to ignite his passions is his intense distaste for what the White Fang has become. As he sees it, they are destroying all the efforts towards true equality he and his family and the original leader of the White Fang have been working towards. As such, he will jump on any chance to deal a blow to the terrorists no matter what the mission entails.

Weapons and Combat[]

Coba's weapons are twin gauntlets named Wax and Wane.

Primary Form: Wax and Wane is a pair of large gauntlets that reach from the knuckles to the elbow. Each of the pair consists of a large section shaped like an egg that has cut more than half-way through. This section sits upon the outside of arm, and contains a long, thin cylindrical drum along the side closest to the thumb. There is a small rectangular protrusion near the elbow on the pinky side of the egg. There is a metal cuff that is used to keep the weapons in place that closes around the majority of the lower arm. To increase the grip of the weapon, there is a handle near front of the weapons that can be held onto. This grip has three triggers on this handle. The trigger that the index finger is closest to deploys and retracts a dagger blade when pressed. The trigger that is closest to the middle finger rotates the half-egg 180 degrees into its secondary form.

Secondary Form: Once rotated, the mechanisms inside the egg section connect with the triggers differently. The rectangle, now located close to the index finger, is the barrel of a submachine gun whose firing mechanism is now connected to the index trigger. The third trigger, unused in the melee form, when pressed releases the cylindrical ammo drum when empty. As before, the middle trigger rotates the egg, switching the weapons forms. Because of the mechanics of the weapon, the blades of either gauntlet cannot be used while in gun mode, and likewise, the gun cannot be fired in melee mode.

Coba favors a brawler fighting style, jumping in to deliver a few "weak" blows and then retreating before an enemy can strike back. Wax and Wane are designed to allow Coba to maintain his brawler tactics, while providing deadlier weapons to augment his attacks. While using the weapons in combat, he will alternate between fist, blade and gun to keep more intelligent foes off guard.

Wax and Wane are named for their rotating section, which represents the waxing and waning of the lunar cycle as well as his semblance.

Semblance[]

Coba's semblance is one that heightens his senses. When activated his five senses are heightened to the level of a wolf. However, the drastic increase in information is so great that he loses his ability to think straight. In effect his he becomes like a feral beast, acting on instinct rather than thought. The only bit of his mind that remains capable of thought holds him back from harming those who aren't enemies.

His semblance is a reference to his middle and last names which translate into Wolf Man. It is also a reflection of his struggle being of mixed blood. Though he might refer to himself as a Faunus he tries to bury the animalistic tendencies within. When activated, he becomes what he fears people will see him as, a feral beast.
