Cina Byal is a member of Team CBLT by me, APOTHEOSISx. All art also by me.

Appearance[]

Pre-Fall of Beacon[]

Cina is a fashionable young lady. She dons a blue cape-like gown with a black, short dress underneath. The ensemble is completed by a wine-colored belt with her semblance on its buckle. Her designer high heels have a similiar color to it. She wears black thighs.

Post Fall of Beacon[]

Cina now has let her hair grow to her back, holding it together with a baby blue headband. For extra defense, two silver pauldrons with burgundy tassets rest on her shoulders. Her gloves have been reinforced with extra armor on her forearms, and she has traded her heels for cuffed boots that are armored as well. Her old dress has been replaced with a military-like suit, consisting of a shoulderless jacket with a long split tail and high-waisted black shorts.

Personality[]

Pre-Fall of Beacon[]

Before she was who she is today, Cina was a mean, ill-mannered person due to being forced into being a Huntress. Her rebellious nature is still present, but without her constant rude mannerism.

Even though she has a sense of heroism and cannot stand injustice or bigotry, she still finds herself being judgemental, either about a person or their appearance. It might be due to her passion for fashion.

Giving off a cold and bored appearance, she actually wants to help as many people as she can, and as cheesy as it sounds, make the world a better place.

Post Fall of Beacon[]

She is a bit more morose than before due to seeing so many of her friends fall. But all in all, she is still the same person she was, albeit still very much affected.

Backstory[]

Hailing from a clan of prestigious Hunters, it was expected of Cina to step in line and become the next generation Hunter. She, however, did not want to; she very much favored fashion design and tailoring.

Indeed, as a child, she had absolutely no interest in fighting or becoming a Huntress. She would always try to get her hands on fashion magazines and would assemble and sketch outfits to actually later sew and tailor them. She dreamed of becoming a world-known fashion designer. However, her mother, Nebe, didn't share that dream, and instead forced her to enroll in Sanctum.

She didn't perform well at all. As an act of rebellion, she didn't even respect the very little dress code there was, and would often avoid classes on purpose. Mid-year, she was sent home due to very poor conduct, much to her family's disappointment.

Not handling the embarassment well, she decided to give up on her fashion dreams and rather live up to her expectations. First, by training physical combat for the rest of the year. Begging for another chance at Sanctum, she re-enrolled the year after (not without loosening up about her family, she was still angry at them for forcing her to take their route and guilt-tripping her into pursuing it).

Again, she didn't perform exceptionally well. But her natural affinity with Dust, along with her newly found appreciation for martial arts, made up for her lack of weapon and artillery training background, along with her poor defense techniques.

During her third year in Sanctum, while on the outskirts of a smaller city, she saw a child chased by a creature of Grimm. After a rather quick encounter, the child was saved. The gratitude expressed by him, his parents and the witnesses made her realize how important the role of a Hunter is. It was there and then that she decided, this is what she wants to do.

Having enrolled at Beacon Academy, she was quickly accepted thanks to her exceptional prowess and skillful use of Dust.

Although now focusing on her studies as a Huntress, she still subconsciously wishes she could have become a fashion designer. She is still on bad terms with her family for forcing her into all this, despite growing fond of her new direction.

Fall of Beacon & post[]

Cina helped push back the Grimm and rogue Atlas programs untill being forced to evacuate. She and her team were sent away and, as soon as they boarded the Atlesian carriers, she saw a white flash atop of what was left of the tower. All that was left of the place she called home was a huge ruin. Despaired, she flew in silence to a safe area.

After Beacon fell, Cina decided to disband team CBLT, give everyone some space. As sad as it might have made her, she figured it would be for the best at the moment. However, she still wanted to pursue her duties. She left for Atlas to enroll in the army, and had no difficulties being accepted in their ranks.

That's what she does to this day. She now works with Atlas to bring order to the world and help with the Grimm menace.

Abilities[]

Aura

Cina's Aura is light blue in color.

Semblance[]

Cina's Semblance is called Diamond Phantasm. In order to confuse enemies, she creates non-physical clones of herself to blend in with them, or for an easier escape route. Although the clones cannot interact or be interacted with, there is no limit as to how many of them can be created, other than Cina's Aura capacity.

Weapons[]

Sideral Apex

Sideral Apex

Sideral Apex[]

A custom-tailored pair of Multi-Chamber Dust Gloves (MCDG). The revolving mechanism on the back of the gloves is filled with eight different kinds of Dust Crystals, cut to resemble pearls. When a certain Crystal is selected, it becomes embedded into the gloves, which become decorated in luminous runes, and allow Cina to harness the elements. Although a very formidable opponent when armed, without the gloves, Cina cannot stand a chance for long.

Clockwise, the Dust the weapon uses, along with the numerous ways to cast them are as follows;

  • Fire: The most basic form is that of an explosive fire projectile. However, Cina's physical attacks can also become fire-coated.
  • Thunder: Though mostly used in creating a bolt between Cina and her target, it can as well coat attacks with the element. If she were to punch the ground, it would create an AOE bolt shock.
  • Wind: Cina can create gusts or arcs of wind, move lighter things around and shoot pressurized air out of her palms to glide and dodge around.
  • Gravity: Used to slow her momentum while falling from heights, changing the trajectory of certain objects or creating small gravity or anti-gravity fields. A very draining spell.
  • Impact: Purely used in hand-to-hand combat. Strikes become much stronger and create shockwaves. A downward punch to the ground would create a ground-level shockwave.
  • Earth: Also a primairly melee-type of Dust, it allows Cina to create a small-vicinity quake, protrude a stone wall or spikes by punching the ground. Using it drains her quickly.
  • Water: Allows for pressurized water projectiles, as well as a water shockwaves if used with a punch to the ground.
  • Ice: Creates icicle projectiles. Can coat Cina's attacks in ice, as well as create stalagmites from the ground with a blow to the ground.

Fighting Style[]

In combat, Cina can be described as a glass cannon. The creative ways she uses Dust make her a deadly opponent, but in exchange for her lethal ways, she can't take many blows before falling. Her fighting style relies mostly on avoiding to get hit, and inflicting as much damage as possible.

When in trouble, or in the instance the need to bail occurs, she can use her Semblance, Diamond Phantasm, to create an intangible army of herself. Thanks to that technique, it is possible for her to blend into the clones to easily escape.

Trivia[]
