Appearance[]

Charna Symbol

Charna isn't a person that really stands out much with her personality, but her height and her physical appearance is one thing that does make her really stand out--and above--the crowd. Being at an impressive 6'5", her height is the first thing that people often note about her, as well as her lean and somewhat muscular build. Her fair skin isn't much to make note of, but her hair is also another part that attracts stares, apart from her build; and, often to her embarrassment, her well endowed chest area. Her hair, long and black, spills down to a little past her shoulders, the standout being the dyed streaks of silver that run through it. She says it is to remind her of aircraft contrails in the sky, with her eyes that same shade of blue. Her two outfits show of how mission focused one of them is, with the other more casual in its nature.

Charna's flight suit is reflective of her role as the team's silent heavy hitter. Consists primarily of a skin tight flight suit that zips up over her chest, and only serves to enhance the size of her large assets. This is accented by attachable grey trimmed body armor that covers her knees, forearms, shoulders, back and upper chest; the armor on her forearms and legs having slits reminiscent of engine vents. She has custom made ankle length, black zip up combat boots. The helmet is appropriate for this role as well, smooth and black, with a shaded visor. The visor is split into two parts, a mini HUD in there to aid with aiming.

Charna's casual outfit, however, is much more embarrassing and revealing than her flight suit is. It consists of a black keyhole sweater that goes down past her waist to the middle of her thighs, a hole revealing a large portion of her very ample assets. A pair of blue jean shorts are covered, the shorts able to peek out from underneath the sweater, going down close to her knees. And to finish it off, she wears a pair of short, white socks, covered by a pair of sperrys that she's often seen wearing.

Personality[]

Charna, despite her height and the weapon that she carries, isn't exactly what someone would call outgoing. She's often timid and soft spoken, her voice stuttering whenever she gets frightened...or even extremely embarrassed. And given how shy and timid she is...its a very often occurrence.

Given she shy nature, it's not surprising that she often looks to other people to help in certain situations. Of course, that person happens to be the partner on her team, Aureole. And it's no surprise that Charna doesn't gravitate to her other teammates, given how cold Esfir is, and the fact that Sabah often embarrasses her.

And, with that shyness, she often holes herself in a library or in her room and reads to divert her mind away from the world. Of course...her choice in books is not one that her teammates seem to like, but tolerate. A self-proclaimed otaku, she loves to read manga, which is something that...her teammates could care less for. Her other love is flying, loving how it can divert her mind much like reading her books from her large manga collection.

However--despite her shyness--she is fiercely protective of her friends and teammates, despite what any one of them make her feel like. Whenever either herself, or her teammates are threatened...her shyness seems to fade, her anger surging forth, and making her an imposing figure to deal with in that state.

Despite these little quirks of hers--or rather, because of them--she has grown to be liked and trusted, grudging or other wise, by her teammates.

Weapons/Abilities[]

Her weapons reflect the nature of her role as the heavy hitter of the team. That, and her equipment that goes along with the suit is also befitting of not only her role, but of her height and her size as well.

  • First Strike: A revolving, six barrel semi-automatic grenade launcher that acts as her main weapon. With this weapon, she can use a variety of grenades, her two main types being air-burst and high explosive grenades. Typically slung on her back under her flight back. This weapon packs a serious and lethal punch against both human and Grimm opponents alike, but the amount it carries at any one time is its one primary hindrance. Other than that, it does very well at its job.
  • Shock Factor: The name for the weapon seems apt for what it does. A high-caliber pistol/combat knife (PCK), the weapon is hard not to be surprised by. It its pistol configuration, the high-caliber weapon would seem cumbersome on anyone other than her, given her size and surprising amount of strength. Shock Factor as a pistol is quite effective in many a close-range scenario, the high-caliber round capable of doing its job at putting an opponent down. As a combat knife, it is also quite effective. With a 1 1/4 ft long blade with a serrated edge, its almost more of a small sword than a knife. But despite that, the weapon does seem to do its job quite well when a fight gets incredibly close range.

Equipment[]

  • Flight Pack: Strapped to her back, its what helps Charna to fly, and fly quickly. Buckled and strapped to her body, the straps keeping them on her body are wide to accommodate her large breasts, and to help manage the weight. Activated by a wrist mounted control, the pack folds, revealing it to have the full shape of a bizarre looking aircraft. However, the design of the pack and the power of the engines are more than enough to get her into the air and flying.

When active, her aura is a dull silver in color.

Battle Style[]

With her size and weaponry that she carries, her fighting style can vary on how the fight plays out, as well as the type and size of the opponent that she is taking on. With bigger opponents comes the need for a large amount of stopping power, with First Strike being able to provide it in spades. And if there is a need for heavy suppression to help her team, the air burst grenades are often adequate enough to keep opponents' heads down long enough for the rest of the team to take out the opposition. It also doesn't hurt that the range indicator in her helmet HUD helps to keep that aim of hers on target. And when she's flying, the HUD also helps her in using First Strike as she's moving, turning her into an aerial bombardment platform.

However, if the fight gets in close on the ground, Charna pulls out her sidearm Shock Factor. And when she uses its pistol configuration, a few hits from its high-caliber rounds are often enough to take out most opponents that are hit by them. In the case that it doesn't stop them or they are unfazed, she uses the knife configuration of the weapon, the blade able to the job, with it due much to the girl's size and strength she puts into the strikes.

Backstory[]

Charna was born into a family with a tradition of flying, the girl growing up hearing the sounds of airplane and airship engines from outside of her home. And as she grew up, the girl watched as her sisters took up the tradition, with her eldest sister being the first of them, followed by the older sister. However, the black haired girl--who was, even then, shy in nature--was reluctant to take up her family's tradition at first, preferring to study, read and watch her anime. This was a trend that continued throughout her younger years, until something she saw made that change. One day at the age of 10, as she was watching anime, one of them had a dogfight scene, and she was transfixed, continuing to watch each successive episode. And with each, her interest in flying grew, seeing how spectacular it looked. And with this new found fascination in flight, she finally decided to take up the family tradition. However, it proved to be hard getting the hang of it.

By the time she was first sent to Signal Academy, she had managed to get a hang of how to fly with her flight pack, her parents having bought one for her the year before she left for Signal. Its aesthetics were a bit unusual, but the power of the engines in the pack proved enough to get her in the air and help her fly. And for the first year, all seemed to go relatively well for her, despite how shut in she seemed to be.

The girl's second year was a different matter all together, her life changing irrevocably for both better and for worse. A few weeks into that year, Charna's clumsyness got the better of her, running and tripping over another girl as she was running to class, the much taller girl falling onto the other one in a mess of black hair, her books scattering all over the floor. It took a moment for her to recover, but when the girl had come too, the surprise and shame on her face was evident. The black haired girl then tried to get herself off, only to end up on her rear instead of being on the girl. Blinking, Charna rubbed her behind, the other girl introducing herself as she apologized profusely to the equally embarrassed Charna. As the girl did so, she helped the black haired girl gather her things and get her back up.

Immediately, Charna was attracted to the other girl--who had introduced herself as Aureole--due not only to looks, but also the confidence that seemed to radiate from her. Having now collected herself, Charna introduced herself, asking Aureole if she could be her senpai, briefly explaining the importance to the other girl. After a few seconds of seemingly awkward silence, Aureole agreed, leading to a happy Charna. In the weeks that followed, she met a couple of others from her future team: Esfir, who was cold and serious; and Sabah, who was more energetic than she expected. The black haired girl minded neither of them, already having a small level of trust in them.

After that, the rest of their time at Signal seemed to pass without much incident, the four of them becoming close friends over their time there. Two years after Charna first met the other three, the black haired girl was met with praise for graduating Signal and going onto Beacon. And with the praise coming from her two sisters, it made Charna quite happy to finally be able to go to where her sisters were going to; and had graduated from, as was in Damini's case.

And with Beacon being the only thing ahead of her, Charna is looking forward to adding her own page to the now growing legend that her family name seemed to have.

Author's Notes[]
